Chippendale
Side Chairs These formal chairs, with a pierced tassel-back splat and carved volutes, repeated on the scrolled “ears” of the crest rail, are classic examples of the Philadelphia style (1760-1780) made famous by Thomas Chippendale. While subtle angles and cants make the chairs quite comfortable, the seat rails are tenoned through the back legs, lending overall strength to their structures to last for generations. Your choice of fabric covers the traditionally upholstered slip seat, stuffed with cotton webbing and horsehair. These chairs are slightly larger than their 18th century cousins, providing greater comfort to modern man. Dimensions: |
